The art is inspired by my view while waiting for my commuter train when I lived in Boston, MA. I’d look at the birds on the roof across the street every morning while waiting for the train. I painted the birds all different colors to represent the wish that everyone can be friends no matter what color their hair or feathers are. Pencil and gouache on a background of paper that I marbled using oil paints and water. This piece is all about friendship, equality, and love of nature. This is the first in my series, the second being “Songbirds and Sweetgum,” a scene in my new hometown, Asheville, NC. Fits in a store-bought 10″ x 12″ frame, and also looks lovely with a custom frame.
